Irregular - Sterling silver sapphire and diamond ring
I'm currently being drawn to the idea of decay, repair and resurrection. The cycle of things. How one thing helps another.
I also find fascinating the idea of one thing becoming another. Like how the fish walked out of the water and (over time) turned into birds! And how pressure turns a rock into crystal. How plants began producing flowers when there weren't any. I don't know where I'm going with this but isn't it interesting!
This ring is the beginning of this conversation for me. The sterling silver is oxicidised and rough. The top and the band are uneven. A large natural blue piece of rough sapphire sits atop while a faceted clear natural diamond has been flush set on the side.
What am I trying to say? That we don't have to be one thing or the other? Don't strive for perfection - always.
This is a size US 7 3/4 or NZ P.
PS: Last photo is a clean version of the ring in a bigger size. Contact me if interested in this one. Originally made for a client who then wanted it bigger again.
